Resting In His Mercy

If you've lost someone to suicide, I want you to hear this:

There is still hope.

I know the questions that often follow such a loss.

"Where are they now?"

"Will I ever see them again?"

The truth is, none of us can answer those questions with certainty. Only God knows the condition of a person's heart, and only He is the righteous Judge.

But I refuse to let unanswered questions steal the hope I have in God.

There are three people I deeply look forward to seeing again one day. When I think about them, I could choose to dwell on the pain of how they left this world. Instead, I choose to look forward with hope.

I imagine the day when every tear will be wiped away.

The day when death is defeated forever.

The day when sorrow is replaced with joy.

That hope doesn't come from pretending I know what God alone knows. It comes from knowing who God is.

He is just.

He is merciful.

He is good.

If you've lost someone, don't let grief convince you that hope is gone. Continue trusting the Lord. Continue walking faithfully with Him. Continue living with eternity in view.

One day, all of our questions will be answered. Until then, we entrust our loved ones to the One who knows every hidden struggle, every silent tear, and every corner of the human heart.

So today, I choose hope.

Not because I have all the answers, but because I know the One who does.

And I look forward to the day when faith becomes sight, sorrow gives way to joy, and we stand in the presence of our Savior forever.
