Holding On to Hope: My Journey Through Infertility

Psalm 37:4
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
Since I was 18 years old, I knew my fertility journey would not be easy.
At that age, I underwent surgery and had one of my ovaries removed. After that, I faced multiple surgeries to remove cysts from the only ovary I had left. For a young woman whose dream was to one day become a mother, this was devastating. However, I had just begun my walk with the Lord, and one of the first things I learned was that nothing is impossible for God and that faith can move mountains.
Years passed, and at 27 years old, I married the love of my life. Just three months into our marriage, I had to undergo emergency surgery. Doctors discovered an 8-centimeter tumor and were concerned it could be cancerous. This is when it becomes so important who you marry. When you are married to someone who shares your faith, you have someone who can stand in agreement with you, pray with you, and believe for your miracle.
That day, God performed a miracle in my life. The tumor was benign. However, because of my medical history and previous surgeries, five months later the doctors told me that getting pregnant would be very difficult. My husband and I were heartbroken. Becoming parents was one of our greatest dreams.
But what happens when the word infertility enters your marriage?
There is silent suffering. There is the longing to carry a child of your own. There are the baby announcements, the baby showers, and the joy of watching friends grow their families while wondering, when will it be my turn?
That was where God met me in my waiting season.
Infertility is not something we talk about often. Many women carry that pain quietly, and it can be an incredibly lonely journey. But the beautiful truth is that you are never alone. God walks beside you through every doctor’s appointment, every tear, every disappointment, and every unanswered question. He gently whispers, “Trust Me. I am with you.”
Even before I got married, Psalm 37:4 had become one of my favorite verses. I had to trust the Lord. I had to believe His promises. I had to see the miracle before I could hold it in my arms. When test results and doctors were saying “no,” I chose to believe that God still had the final say.
My faith had to become greater than my fears. More importantly, I had to make sure that I was delighting myself in God more than in the desire itself. I learned that while God cares deeply about our dreams, He desires our hearts even more.
Then, in 2015, God answered our prayers.
After receiving that difficult diagnosis, God blessed us with our miracle—our beautiful
daughter, Zoey Grace.
The journey was not easy, but God’s grace and favor carried us every step of the way.
I don’t know what your journey toward motherhood has looked like, or what season you may be walking through right now. But I do know this: God will never leave you or forsake you. He is close to the brokenhearted. He sees every tear, hears every prayer, and knows every desire hidden in your heart.
Keep trusting Him.
The same God who carried me through my waiting season is carrying you through yours. He is faithful, He is present, and He loves you more than you can imagine.
Trust Him. He is still working miracles.
